|Essential Duties and Responsibilities:|
Under the direction of an assigned Beach Manager, the Lifeguard assists in providing a safe environment for patrons of a specific recreational area; oversees public activities; safeguards patrons; maintains order; acts in the event of an emergency and administers first aid when necessary; works as part of a team with other lifeguards; participates in the in-service training program; maintains records as assigned; attends all beach staff meetings; maintains equipment and grounds; uses corrective lenses if needed to maintain 20/20 vision when on duty; and performs other related duties as assigned.
|Education, Experience and Other Requirements:|
Current American Red Cross (ARC) Advanced Lifesaving or Lifeguard Training Certificate required; American Red Cross Standard First Aid Certificate required; American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certificate required; American Red Cross Blood Borne Pathogens Certificate is highly desirable; and Northwest Lifeguard Test Certificate is highly desirable. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age; strong communication skills; demonstrate mature judgment and be in good physical condition. All lifeguards will be subject to mandatory pre-employment drug testing. Applicants are subject to Washington State background check.
While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk and hear. The incumbent is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
