SALARY: $25 per hour
Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, instructs various levels of swimming including various strokes (e.g., front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke, butterfly, etc.). Teaches students from grades 4 - 12. Organizes and directs activities for students in order to provide a high level of quality instruction for all swim patrons; Develops swim program according to student's ability and promotes students to higher levels of swimming according to their skills; Provides individual feedback to parents/guardians regarding student’s swimming developments and achievements.
Instructs both Stand Up Paddle Board and kayak classes; Completes regular cleaning and tidying of equipment used for swim lessons/water activities to ensure the maintenance of a safe environment for staff and patrons.
Works with the Beach Manager and Lifeguards to provide a safe environment for patrons; maintains order; acts in the event of an emergency and administers first aid when necessary; works as part of a team with other staff; participates in the in-service training program; maintains records as assigned; maintains equipment and grounds; uses corrective lenses if needed to maintain 20/20 vision when on duty; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age; have strong communication skills; demonstrate mature judgment and be in good physical condition.
Water Safety Instructor certification or 3 years of demonstrated ability to teach swim lessons.
Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certified or the ability to obtain within one month of employment. American Red Cross Blood Borne Pathogens Certificate is highly desirable.
Certifications in Stand Up Paddle Board and Kayaking or the ability to obtain the certification within one month of employment.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel; and talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Must be able to successfully pass a position relevant background check
Work is performed in a field/outdoor environment; may be exposed to individuals who are difficult. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Subject to irregular work schedules including weekday, weekend, and evening.
