Camp W.A.L.K.A.P.A.L.A Co-Director
Hours: 40 hours per week
Camp runs from June 21-August 12
Hourly Rate: $18.00-$20.00 per hour, depending on experience
Duties: Under the direction of the Adaptive and Youth/Teen Manager and Program Coordinator, plan, supervise and prep for 8 weeks of camp. Duties include supervision of 9 camp counselors and 65 participants, assisting in the development and implementation of staff training; developing positive supportive relationships with participants, parents and other department staff; preparing information/promotional materials; maintaining and performing related duties as required.
Mandatory Training Dates: June 21 - June 22, 2022
Mandatory Parent Night: June 22, 2022
Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 21 years of age; minimum 1 year supervisory experience; strong leadership and organizational skills; possess a valid CPR and Standard First Aid Card by start date; and have experience in working with children ages 6 - 12 with and without disabilities. Applicants are subject to Washington State background check. Other requirements include three personal and/or work references.
Preferred Qualifications: One (1) year or more of experience working with children with and without disabilities in recreation, teaching or day camp environment; knowledge of age appropriate athletic and social activities, crafts and other large group activities for children between 6-12 years old; Ability to live by Kent Parks mission of "Dedicated to Enriching Lives" and demonstrate the following characteristics: responsible, respectful, honest, energetic, passionate, flexible, original, creative, dependable, thoughtful.
