Preschool and Youth Instructor

4+ hours per week

Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday

Variable hours based on program needs

Salary: $18- $21 per hour

Position Details: These are part-time positions instructing preschool and/or youth classes in the Parks and Recreation activity program. Classes may include (but are not limited to) preschool crafts, music, movement and dance, youth crafts and STEAM classes.

Duties: Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, the instructor will be responsible for the planning and content of the class, arranging for supplies, conducting the program, cleaning up the facilities used, and providing evaluation at the conclusion of the program.

Minimum Qualifications: 

Must be at least 18 years of age.  Major or minor field of study in recreation, physical education, education, or a related field is desirable. Experience working with preschoolers/youth is desirable. Applicants are subject to a Sterling background check. Must have current First Aid and CPR certification or be willing to obtain within the first 2 weeks of employment.

Temporary employees with the City of Kent do not receive insurance or time off benefits outside of those which are legally mandated. In certain instances, temporary employees may be eligible for retirement benefits through the State of Washington’s Department of Retirement Systems.
