SIGNS AND MARKINGS MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT - STREET
Limited Hour Temporary Position
Hourly Rate: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour depending on experience
Hours: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
|Essential Duties and Responsibilities:|
Assist Signs and Markings maintenance crews in routine maintenance including cleaning, straightening, repairing of signs, inventory, and performing other related tasks as required. The incumbent must have the ability to operate commercial type maintenance equipment such as hand tools, wrenches, wash brushes and generators. Incumbent is also required to operate standard size pickups and/or sedans with hand and foot control. These positions may at times be required to work in high motor and pedestrian traffic areas.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have a valid Washington State driver's license and an original Social Security card available at the time of interview; must successfully pass the City's pre-employment substance abuse screening; must have an acceptable driving record; must successfully pass a Washington State Patrol background inquiry; and must be at least 18 years of age.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and is occasionally required to lift and/or move in excess of 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in an office and field environment; may be exposed to individuals who are difficult; and may be required to travel to different sites. Work is usually performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
