Camp WALKAPALA Day Camp Counselors
(8 Positions Available)
40 hours per week
Camp runs from June 28-August 13, 2021
Mandatory Training Dates: June 24, 25
Mandatory Parent Night: June 25, 2021
Interviews: Interviews are ongoing starting April 19, 2021
Salary: $14.19 - $14.69 per hour depending on experience
Duties: Under the direction of the Adaptive Recreation and Youth/Teen Manager, Program Coordinator and Camp Director, develop and lead high energy, creative, interesting activities for children ages 6 - 12.
Camp consists of approximately 30-40 campers and 8 staff members. Activities include arts and crafts, STEAM projects, sports and games, swimming, songs, inclusive camp activities with adaptive recreation and weekly field trips.
Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 16 years of age; possess a valid CPR and Standard First Aid Card by start date. Applicants are subject to Washington State background check. Other requirements include three personal and/or work references.
Preferred Qualifications: One (1) year or more of experience working with children with and without disabilities in recreation, teaching or day camp environment; knowledge of age appropriate athletic and social activities, crafts and other large group activities for children between 6-12 years old; Ability to live by Kent Parks mission of "Dedicated to Enriching Lives" and demonstrate the following characteristics: responsible, respectful, honest, energetic, passionate, flexible, original, creative, dependable, thoughtful.
