Street Asphalt Assistant

Hourly Rate: $20.00 to 23.00 per hour, depending on experience
Hours of Work: These positions are assigned to a 9/80 schedule. Days and hours of work are Monday-Thursday from 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with every other Friday off.
Assist street maintenance crews in routine maintenance of city streets, highways, roadways, parking lots, driveways, sidewalks, and alleys. Assist with performing asphalt and/or concrete work; and performing other related tasks as required. The incumbent must have the ability to operate commercial type maintenance equipment such as backpack blowers, along with various asphalt and concrete tools. Incumbent are also required to operate standard size pickups and/or sedans with hand and foot control. These positions may at times require working in high motor and pedestrian traffic areas.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Work is performed in a field environment; incumbents may be exposed to individuals who are difficult; and may be required to travel to different sites. Work is usually performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
Education, Experience and Other Requirements:
Applicants must have a valid Washington State driver's license and must be able to verify employment eligibility at time of hire; must successfully pass the City's pre-employment substance abuse screening and criminal background check; must have an acceptable driving record; and must be at least 18 years of age.
